Mark A. of Austin, Texas has always loved the large, eight-acre property that his home sits on. And with a large property often comes longer water and sewer lines, which Mark started covering under a repair plan from HomeServe nearly a decade ago.
In early November of 2023, Mark heard a gurgling sound coming from outside his house. He opened his front door to find a small puddle forming in an area of grass on his lawn nearby. Fortunately, as a longtime HomeServe customer, he turned right around and grabbed his phone to give us a call.
“This wasn’t my first rodeo with a water line leak – and there hasn’t been a single incidence during my tenure as a customer that HomeServe has let me down,” Mark said. “There was no point in stressing or investigating further, because I knew you’d take care of it.”
"Financially, every homeowner should know about what HomeServe has to offer,” said Mark. “I always feel taken care of, and I will continue to be a customer as long as I’m a homeowner"
Basin Plumbing, a reliable and local member of HomeServe's contractor network, arrived at Mark's property just a short time after he called to let us know about his problem. After some digging, the plumber located the problem. Much of Mark's land sits on a clay-like soil as its foundation. Changes in weather and moisture content can change the volume of that soil, which at times, runs the risk of causing cracks in the seams of the home's water line. A quick replacement of a few feet of the water line had the puddle dissipated and the problem seemingly fixed. But just a few days later, another puddle sprung near the other side of Mark's property.
"It wasn't entirely shocking, because the change in the ground's moisture that caused the first issue was likely to cause a similar issue near the other seam in the line," Mark explained. "Again, it was a no-fret situation for me thanks to the repair plan coverage on the line."
Basin Plumbing visited Mark's property again. Just as expected, a similar crack in a different seam was the culprit of the new leak. The technician had twenty more feet of the water line replaced and the crack was repaired before evening on that same day. Between the two repairs, Mark saved just shy of $3,000.
"While not every repair happens this quickly, I was thrilled that it did this time around," said Mark. "As I said before, HomeServe continues to impress me, even after all these years."
Mark told us that he has been a customer for so long, he doesn't even remember how he initially learned of our repair plans. But, he makes sure to inform every new homeowner in his life about the benefits of covering different things that fail from everyday wear and tear that typical basic homeowner's insurance usually does not cover.
"Financially, every homeowner should know about what HomeServe has to offer," said Mark. "I always feel taken care of, and I will continue to be a customer as long as I'm a homeowner."
“I knew the repair plan was a smart investment but had no idea it would save me this much money at once,” said Charlie.
“It was as great of an experience as it could have been, considering the circumstances.”
